About Me
Passionate about diversity and celebrating difference.
My name is LeAndra Perry, and I’m born and raised in Louisville, KY. I went to Central High School and graduated with a master’s in social work from Spalding University. I’m married to an amazing husband Earnest, and we share a three-year old daughter together.
Throughout my life, I’ve always noticed the subtle racism and discrimination in our society. Whether it be in magazines, television shows, or competitions, I always noticed a lack of diverse cultures included. When I would speak up, I would get ostracized and told to be “grateful” for what we had.
Being grateful was never the problem. The problem was being shushed in a society that was
never built to hear me speak. Like the great Zora Neale Hurston said, “If you are silent about
your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it”. I’ve learned to continue speaking up and
letting my voice be heard as well as being an advocate for others in our community.
