About Jessica Clopton, CSW, MFT-Associate

Welcome to Jessica’s Office

Expectations can make our lives feel really heavy.

The world places importance on so many things– too many to choose from, but somehow we need to pay attention to them all. School, career, relationships, babies? We try to follow the pattern of the world, but sometimes, it doesn’t fit.

Sometimes, the overwhelming sense that we don’t belong to these expectations can cause chaos, from within and on the outside. Whether we are just building the bricks to our house, or they’ve all crumbled down, sometimes we get stuck on where to go next, what to listen to, and who to be.

What do you want your house to look like?

It’s time for you to use your voice. Before you use your voice, you have to find it. What do you want? How do you get it? Building a home takes commitment, work, and sometimes some hard emotions. Building the life you want, free of the expectations set upon you by the world, can be just as much work.

Sometimes, we just need a human to talk to.

We vent about our day, but it seems nobody is listening. Or, at least, they don’t understand in the ways you need. They have bias, and you want to just let it out sometimes. You’re not sure why you do the things you do, but you want to find out. You need a voice of reason, to help you find your own voice. You’re looking to reconnect with your partner, or figure out where to go with your relationships. You’re weighed down. You need a middle ground for your family to decide what’s best. You’ve exhausted so many options on getting to where you want to be. Ultimately, you’re reaching for help, and you’ve landed here.

Let me start out with this: That first step was brave.

It’s hard to do things differently. It’s hard to show up in a different light. Remember this: you can do hard things. Here you are: the first step. Whether we need to work in baby steps or you’re ready to take the leap into some deep inner work, I’m here to support you in whatever state your house is in. Showing someone the state of your house can be daunting, but the beauty afterwards will make it all worthwhile. Be brave. Let me help you find your voice and build it.

About Me

I was born and raised in Louisville, where I went through school and didn’t stop, because I kept breaking through the barriers meant to hold me back. I am not exempt to the life stressors that hold us back from getting what we want. Ultimately, overcoming takes a lot of inner work, something I have had to constantly work at, with some push backs along the way.

Being a mom has changed me fundamentally. It has brought out the best and worst parts within me. This is where I have found my passion, and where I hope to join you on your journey. Whether you are a mom, parent, in need of help for your kiddo, or just a person on an identity search, I’m here to support you.

Throughout my years, I have noticed that everything happens in systems. We enter the world within the constraints of many systems, demographically and economically. The systems we operate under can sometimes be the reason we begin to dysfunction, and then we have to figure out where to go from there.

That’s why I approach therapy as an open conversation. I’ll sit with you in your bad times, and help you celebrate the good, wherever you’re at in the process. I recognize that every client has their own unique needs, and value feedback to get you to where you feel you want to be. I want to create safety in session that will help the sense of safety outside of session, because I believe you are more than capable!
