Anxiety & Performance Pressure

When you’re an athlete, student, or professional in a high-stakes environment, the pressure to perform can feel relentless. You might find yourself constantly second-guessing your abilities or feeling like you’re never quite measuring up. The weight of expectations—whether from others or yourself—can lead to a cycle of fear, stress, and self-doubt, making it hard to focus or enjoy the activities you once loved. Over time, this pressure can affect not just your performance but also your overall well-being.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. In a supportive and understanding space, you can work through the thoughts and emotions keeping you stuck. Here, you’ll explore the sources of your anxiety, learn to recognize patterns of self-criticism, and develop strategies to manage the intense feelings that come with high-pressure situations. This process is about helping you reclaim control over your mind and emotions, so they no longer interfere with your goals.

By building mental resilience, you can regain confidence in your abilities and discover a healthier relationship with success and failure. The tools and skills you gain here won’t just help you manage the immediate stress; they’ll empower you to face future challenges with clarity and balance. Whether you’re competing on the field, excelling in the classroom, or managing the demands of daily life, you’ll feel more prepared to rise to the occasion—on your terms.

You may find yourself overwhelmed by feelings of guilt, shame, or hopelessness, unsure of how to move forward. Meet Micah Robins, MFT-Associate

I believe in instilling confidence and autonomy above all when I am working with clients. I believe that before any therapy can begin that a strong therapeutic relationship is the first step in performing good therapy. I also treat the client as expert as they hold the power over their own lives.

Therefore, I see myself as more of a guide, a coach, or a teacher in the therapy room.

In this role I will challenge the client’s thinking and offer different perspectives to attempt to expand the client’s reality. I always tell my clients that they hold the answers within themselves, I am just here to help bring that out of them. In order to help bring out those answers, I bring forth a lot of patience and empathy with clients.

I was a college athlete in my undergraduate career and graduated with my Masters of Science in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Louisville’s Kent School of Social Work. My demeanor can be very quiet, but I love to have a great time in my social life and try to maintain balance overall.
